ASD Unit Consultation Analysis (now closed)
Íø±¬ºÚÁÏ is proposing a 25 place unit within our school for pupils with Autistic Spectrum Disorder and/or Communication Interaction needs.
We have followed the guidance contained within “Making significant change to an open academy ~ Jan 22” to complete our consultation.
The aim of the consultation was to seek views on the proposal from all interested parties, particularly from pupils and their families who attend Íø±¬ºÚÁÏ, staff members at Íø±¬ºÚÁÏ, pupils and their families who may attend the school in the future, other Special Schools in Surrey, local schools and the local community, local county and Ward councillors, our Governing Body and MAT Trustees.
In conjunction with Surrey County Councils guidance we produced a timeline for the consultation process as follows. The informal consultation was open from 26th June to 15th September 2023, and included two Public engagement meetings on 11th July 2023 (online) and 12th September 2023 (in person). To ensure we fully informed all our stakeholders, two documents were prepared for information: A Statutory Consultation proposal from Íø±¬ºÚÁÏ, and an initial Equality Impact Assessment prepared by Íø±¬ºÚÁÏ (to be updated once the consultation period closed). These documents were sent to local stakeholders, published on our website and all our Parents (existing and new intake 2023) informed by Parent mail from our Head Teacher. Consultation responses were invited by a variety of media: an online form or alternatively email to a bespoke e mail address, post, or email the Head Teachers PA. There were two Public engagement meetings (one virtual and the other in person), both were recorded and the views expressed included in the response documents.
Throughout the consultation window regular reminders were sent out via e mail and website notifications to engage all stakeholders with the process.
All responses were centrally collated and recorded in three documents representing the returns below:
